No matter how seemingly easy golf appears to be, it requires substantial skills, understanding, and persistence to be able to play it. As with everything else in life, you need to practice to get better, develop a more powerful swing, and learn how to properly position your body to deliver full-blown swings. Along this process, golf hitting nets can provide substantial help and maintain your swing consistency.

The year 2020 has been on hold for quite some time, preventing golfers from indulging in the game as frequently as they normally would. Many Golf courses have been closed, so the range hasn’t been an option.

What do you do in a situation like this? If you were me, you’d get yourself one of the best golf hitting nets, a good golf Chipping net, and a Golf mat, and you’ll blow those swings over and over again.

Golf hitting nets are an excellent starting point for your golf training and your make-shift Backyard driving range,  so we are presenting the best you can find on the market.

Best Golf Hitting Nets

Tusy Golf Net

Given the time gap between my last real game and today, the first thing I appreciate about the Tusy model is its tremendous open dimensions. It allowed me to get a lot of things wrong while I’m repairing my driving and chipping swings without losing any balls.

The Tusy is also a simple, no-fuss design. My wife and I put it up in no time and it was ready to go, but I can’t help but think it may have been impossible to do on my own. At the same time, however, it feels pretty solid. The fiberglass and nylon materials feel sturdy and look great in the yard.

Pros

  • Sturdy, solid materials that also look nice once assembled
  • Close, tight mesh netting adds to rigidity and longevity
  • Wide open build makes it perfect for all levels
  • Good price point for its size and build

Cons

  • Likely very challenging for one person to set up alone – not ideal for the lone golfer!

IPOW Gold Practice Net

The first thing that seems to set this one apart is the presence of the additional circular zones on the periphery of the main target. This is handy as it helps you see more clearly where your ball is going when things are off target.

We put this one up on a fairly breezy day and found it to be quite stable. I never thought for a moment it would come unstuck, but I did notice a little stress damage on the net after practicing with my driver. Feels more of a chipping-strength net.

Pros

  • Stood its ground well in windy conditions
  • Nice wide design made it easy to practice any shot
  • Extra circles around target help players better understand their game

Cons

  • Net felt weaker against powerful shots
  • Not so easy for one person to set up alone

Club Champ Indoor/Outdoor Multi-Sport Easy Net

This is a simple and budget-friendly option that would suit many golfers. You could probably easy use it to practice tennis serves, too. It’s a massive 9 feet wide and 7 feet tall, built with aluminum and fiberglass, making it light work when you move it around.

My only real gripe is that it does what it says on the tin, but just kind of sits there a bit lifeless in the yard. If you want pure function and no style, this could be a good option for you. It’s great value, but will require you to have the right setup to use it well.

Pros

  • Tremendous value at less than $50
  • A great first choice when you’re starting out
  • Handles kids’ golf swing power perfectly well
  • Easily sticks into soft ground without needing additional pegs or hooks

Cons

  • Won’t work on a hard-ground yard or similar outdoor space
  • Less stable when receiving power shots from adult players
  • Doesn’t offer target; no insight for player into their accuracy

Champkey Flat-NET

Though the price point on this one is a little high for its size, the quality is undeniable. What I love the most is that the graphics on the net itself allows me to picture myself on the course as I practice. This gets me closer to the real golfing mindset, and that’s valuable for practice time.

In addition, this net is light but durable, and I set it up on my own in fewer than 5 minutes. I was really impressed by how simple it all was, especially for such a “pro-feel” type of product.

Pros

  • Simulated golf course graphics are great for practice
  • Simple installation, stands neatly in the yard
  • Fiberglass frame with legs means no need for pegs or loops

Cons

  • Quite expensive for the simplicity – perhaps paying a premium on brand name
  • Won’t stay up as well as tent-style design in windier conditions

OSCREE Golf Hitting Net with Target Sheet

When you want the full setup with target but you’re on a budget, I can see the attraction of the OSCREE net. I enjoyed using this one for chipping and some fairway shots, but the 5-ft height of the product is a little problematic when you want to practice other shots.

Anyone who has put up a tent should be able to handle this one, and the 11mm fiberglass poles feel sturdier in the hand than some other nets which use 8mm ones. All of this leads me to conclude that this is the ideal net for kid golfers where the size won’t be a problem.

Pros

  • Very affordable and suits beginners, especially kidsm
  • 2-year warranty offered to ensure your confidence
  • High-density mesh ensures no balls slip through the net

Cons

  • Height is restricting for adult players
  • No-frills design offers high-level players very little

Kerrogee Open Size Golf Net

I tried this one out as an indoor net and it worked nicely. Sits neatly, not too imposing but big enough to play. It’s really perfect for your short game, especially chipping. It’s not really a good size for driving or long fairway shots. I confess to making a small wall dent while trying this out.

It requires good accuracy to work well, in my view. This makes it suitable for more experienced players looking to drill specific hitting skills. The materials look nice, but don’t feel as durable as some of the models I’ve tested.

Pros

  • A simple and easy-to-use tool for short-game practice
  • The design looks nice; very neat and well proportioned
  • Great for experienced players who need an indoor or outdoor tool for practicing specific shots

Cons

  • Required very close proximity for more powerful shots – not ideal for long game
  • Materials don’t feel very durable – stitching in particular felt like it could come apart easily

FORB Portable Golf Hitting Net

The FORB net is simply built, but appears well thought-out, too. I really appreciated the button-locking system in the steel base and all the other parts just slotted in like a dream. For a net of this size, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to put together.

One other thing I loved about this net was the overall look. The green covers and white net help the net better fit in with garden surroundings. It actually looks quite nice on the grass, unlike some nets that are eyesores in their construction.

I hit a hundred or more high-power golf balls at this net, and it didn’t even break a sweat.

Pros

  • Very easy to put together thanks to great design
  • Portable with a good-quality carry bag
  • Materials very durable against real golf balls

Cons

  • Not the best price point, but can’t say it’s the worst, either. Perhaps a little over for such a simple overall build.

LAIWEN Golf Net

At first glance I thought this one was just for kids, until I saw it came in different sizes. This is a good feature, and the price is absolutely on point, even for the larger edition. Once set up it looks the part, and will fit in the garage or yard without any issue.

My main gripe on the LAIWEN net unfortunately is with the quality on netting and hooks to hold the target up. I hit a few dozen high-power shots into the net and found that it was already looking fairly weakened. The target also didn’t stand up to great power and it came down once.

Pros

  • It’s an excellent chipping and kid-golfer practice kit – no issue with low-power shots
  • Different sizes available make it easy to guarantee you get what you need
  • Very easy for two people to set up – no more than 10 minutes total
  • Affordable and attractive

Cons

  • Netting doesn’t feel the most durable, especially against driving practice
  • Target seems to easily come down if too much strain is put on it by the ball

Galileo Golf Hitting Net

Galileo Golf Hitting Net
Check it Out On Amazon

The large size of this Galileo hitting net is a useful practice gear if you are looking to upgrade your golfing performance. What I like about the net the most is its weatherproof design, allowing you to set it up in your backyard and leave it there during windy or rainy weather. But, if your apartment is spacious, then it can also be used inside.

The patented design includes flexible binding rope, iron pipes of the highest strength and durable net and fabric, which I have to warn you, might show some signs of wear and tear pretty soon, but it will sustain even the most powerful shots.

A piece of advice: gather some patience before starting to set it up, you’ll need it!

Pros

  • Patented, self-supporting system
  • Large size for practicing various shots (9.3’ (L) x 5.3’ (W) x 6.5’ (H))
  • It can be used indoors and outdoors
  • Weatherproof design
  • Lifetime replacement parts support and 60-day return warranty

Cons

  • It takes a bit of time to set it up or dismantle
  • The fabric is of a lower quality

What we’ve got here is an impressive bundle set intended for those golfers who have just decided to bring the range in their homes. It is an excellent opportunity to get a sizeable hitting net, a Chipping net, and a Golf mat – the holy trinity for home practice. The hitting net is large, relatively easy to set, and comes with side wings to protect the interior from slices. The chipping net features a basket within a basket design with a red, central target ring, a wider, white ring, and the final, black ring.

The grass mat is one of my favorites on the market since it consists of three differently structured surfaces emulating rough turf, fairway turf, and tee turf. The mat and the wooden tees that come within the bundle are excellent for acquiring real feel.

All elements in this set are weatherproof. The craftsmanship is decent, so, all in all, it is worth the investment.

  • Tri-turf golf hitting mat
  • 20-inch diameter chipping net

For many golfers, the name of Rukket rings the bell as the company has been among the leaders in golf practice equipment and gear. This net offers basic, but very reliable performance, and it has a considerably varied role.

The 7-ply knotless net, combined with the sturdy and thick frame, ensures increased stability even for the most powerful swings. The materials and parts are of a very high quality, supported by the company’s 100% lifetime warranty and parts replacement.

The net is made from weatherproof parts and can be left outdoors. However, when exposed for a longer time to the elements, it will shorten its lifetime, so storage is recommended when not in use.

Pros

  • Two available sizes: 16 x 10 feet and 9 x 9 feet
  • Thick frame and 7-ply knotless netting
  • Pocket for extra ball storage
  • 100% lifetime warranty
  • Lifetime replacement parts
  • Comes with a storage bag

Cons

  • Pricey
  • Not very convenient for indoor use

Callaway Quad Net

What immediately got my attention when I first took a look at this net was what could be easily defined as the quickest set up when it comes to hitting nets. The 8-feet square net needs to be lightly thrown up in the air to get its full shape and then insert the poles and the stakes. The reverse process is equally easy to perform, as well.

The quality of the material is outstanding and ensures a long time use. It holds up well against the strongest hits, and it appears that it can resist the elements as well. However, you might face issues in case of gusts, as the ground anchoring system seems a bit unreliable.

The fabric target in the middle is soundproof, which is an excellent convenience for indoor use. All in all, it is one of the best nets out there.

Pros

  • Ultra-strong mesh and durable construction
  • Very easy to set up and takedown
  • Soundproof hanging target
  • Convenient for outdoor and indoor use
  • Front area ball feed net

Cons

  • Not very stable during windy weather
  • Expensive

Things to consider before buying a hitting net

What They Are Made From

Since the demand for hitting nets is on its rise, there are more and more options for you to choose from. How do you know which one is a good buy? Materials tell you a lot! If the construction is made from fiber steel poles, it includes metal weighting, there are stakes and pins to ground it, and the netting is dense and features anything over 4-ply construction with superior fabric, then it is a go-to model.

Stability

It does make sense, doesn’t it? Hitting nets are supposed to withstand not only very powerful swings, but also they need to maintain their stability during windy days when used outdoors. This implies that with the purchase, you should expect to get ground nails, pins, and stakes that allow anchoring it to the ground and keeping it stable no matter what.

Construction and Size

The popular ‘the bigger, the better’ entirely makes sense regarding hitting nets as their function is to provide a targeted space for your long game shots. The strength of the hitting net is the key factor that determines the durability of the net, however, those hitting nets that are of a larger size and feature side wings can better help with the mishits. Anything larger than 6.5 feet would serve the purpose. It would also suit you well if there is a netting or fabric base which will collect the balls on the ground. Some of the best-hitting nets feature a ball-return system that allows you to focus more time on hitting the balls instead of searching for them.

Ease of Use

Most hitting nets are designed for indoor and outdoor use, so because you’ll probably be using it inside and outside, then you should focus on the assembly process.

However, there’s the tricky part! You need to be careful with those nets that are extremely easy to set up since most of them lack stability when challenged by the elements. So, my advice is to opt for a hitting net that is easy to set up, but at the same time, it provides means to anchor it firmly to the ground.
