What Are G/FORE Golf Shoes?
The G/FORE golf shoes were started in Los Angeles by a group that wanted to make a pair of golf shoes that would combine a traditional pair of shoes with a more modern approach to the game. G/FORE is all about luxury, performance in wet conditions, comfortable golf shoes, and a mix of different styles.
If you want to get bold or loud with your G/FORE shoe selection like I did with the shoes on the left, you have plenty of choices to go with. If staying more conservative is your style, you won’t be disappointed.
So that you can find the perfect pair of golf shoes from G/FORE, there are both spiked golf shoes and spikeless golf shoes to choose from. The Gallavanter is the shoe that put G/FORE on the map, but the MG4+ has recently made its way up the ranks as well.
G FORE MG4+ Features and benefits
The G/FORE MG4+ are the golf shoes I purchased to test. MG4+ is designed to be a lightweight and comfortable golf shoe but still allow for superior performance. Although I prefer to play in dry conditions, I was looking for a waterproof golf shoe that I could rely on if stuck on the course during a rain storm or while playing in a member guest.
Waterproof outer
Sports gear has come a long way in its ability to protect you from the elements on the golf course. The MG4+ is a waterproof golf shoe. At this point, all premium golf footwear should keep your feet dry on the course, and the MG4+ is designed to do exactly that.
If you are looking for an all-conditions golf shoe, there are several options from G/FORE. As I mentioned, they take all-around performance and durability quite seriously.
G4’s Antimicrobial Foam Cushion Footbed
A theme that G/FORE carries out through all of its shoes is the antimicrobial foam cushion bed. The best thing about this cushion footbed (aside from the comfort) is that it’s fully washable. The outside of your MG4+ can be wiped down or carefully brushed off.
However, this inside piece comes out and gets tossed in the washing machine after a round of golf. You will find this in the Gallivanter golf shoes in addition to these MG4+.
In addition to the ease of use and washability, expect plenty of comfort from the MG4+ footbed.
While wearing my G/Fore Men’s Mg4+ Golf Shoes, it felt like I had little soft bubbles or like a tiny lego board on the bottom of my feet. Before you get scared away thinking about that time you stepped on your kids legos barefoot, it is not like that at all.
One of the most comfortable running shoes I ever owed were made by Adidas, and they actually had legos on the outside for the stripes, and a red lego board on the foot. You can see the shoes I purchased from Amazon here.
In fact, the feeling on the bottom of your feet is enjoyable, and you will notice that feeling while walking around the course. It is a hard feeling to describe, but to me, it felt like I was getting a soft foot massage at times. You can see what the insole looks like in the photo below.
Yeah, it sounds weird, but you will really enjoy it.
Breathable
When playing golf in the summer, waterproof golf shoes with comfort can sound like a recipe for heat and sweat. Luckily inside the durable waterproof outer, there is a padded mesh interior lining to improve breathability.
I typically wear Adidas golf shoes and love the feel, but after a long season of playing frequently, they can really stink. My son recently took my golf clubs and shoes home from the course and left them in his vehicle overnight.
The next day, he thought he either left food in the car overnight, or an animal crawled into his vehicle and died underneath the seat.
The great thing about G/Fore Men’s Mg4+ Golf Shoes is the added breathability is not going to impact your waterproof performance.
3D Molded External Heel Cup
The heel of the MG4+ golf shoes is quite impressive. It is an abrasion-resistant 3D Molded external heel cup that provides a lot of support. The heel stands out as being a little more prominent than you see with other casual golf shoes, and that makes a big difference when it comes to stability and overall durability.
In other words, if you like to go after the ball and want a golf shoe that supports it, the G/FORE MG4+ is an option for you.
Sawtooth Traction
The MG4+ golf shoes I purchased are a spikeless design, and I always take a close look at the traction pattern when going with spikeless. These G/FORE golf shoes have a hybrid knurled and sawtooth traction that provides a lot of contact and connection with the turf.
In other words, the G/FORE are designed to perform, not just to look good. High-end materials were used in the creation of the shoe to make these a bit more than just casual golf shoes.

Here are a few of the most commonly asked questions about the G/FORE golf shoes.
Does The MG4+ Fit The Same As Gallivanter?
The MG4+ golf shoes have a slightly wider toe area than the Gallivanter. However, the overall sizing of the shoe is the same as the Gallivanter. The side toes may give it a slightly different feel for a golfer with wider feet.
I don’t really have wide feet, but I definitely would recommend you buy a half-size larger than your typical golf shoe.
Do G/Fore Men’s Mg4+ Golf Shoes golf shoes run small?
G/FORE shoes promote a tight and secure fit, something that golfers of all levels should be looking for in their shoes. However, if you are concerned with the width of your foot, consider going a half-size large with the G/FORE.
As mentioned above, make sure you buy a pair a half-size bigger than you normally would.
Are G/FORE shoes comfortable?
I would say that the G/FORE golf shoes may be the most comfortable golf shoe I have ever worn. The G4’s are made with comfort in mind. The removable insert is made with a foam material that provides a massage like performance throughout the round.
I have some problems with my feet, and thought I would never buy another golf shoe other than Adidas, but I have to say……
Final thoughts
After putting the G4 golf shoes to the test, I would say they look great, are built to last, and you will fall in love with the comfort they provide you on the course. The biggest downside is the purchase price. I paid $225 for my first pair which is easily twice as much as I have ever paid for a pair, but after two months of wearing them, I am about to buy another pair in another color.
If you aren’t afraid to shell out a few more bucks, you won’t go wrong buying a pair of the G/Fore’s!
