This two-piece construction golf ball is great for beginners as it combines distance with feel and durability. When you hit this golf ball, it will feel softer than some other balls like Top Flights or some Pinnacles, but you will notice that it carries farther than most other brands.

TaylorMade’s Burner golf ball is touted as the softest golf ball the company has ever made, and features a React Core, which is 60 compression and will provide exceptional energy transfer from club to ball, resulting in longer carry and distance.

The cover is made of Ionomer designed to help with responsiveness around the green. These balls are softer than the TaylorMade TP5 and TP5x.

There are some lower digit handicappers and mid-handicappers that play this ball because of the feel and the price. Why pay ProV1 prices if you can get the same performance out of a ball for half the price?

We like how responsive the ball feels off of our irons and has a very penetrating ball flight. We also felt like the ball rolled out a little farther than some other balls we tested after landing in the fairway.

One of the things we have noticed after playing with these balls is they are not easy to find outside of Amazon or on the Nike website. At our Country Club and at Dick’s Sporting Goods, they did not have these balls. Nike has exited the golf equipment business, but apparently is still producing a high quality golf ball. They are reasonably priced and can often times find them on sale.

Srixon Soft Feel Golf Balls

These two-piece golf balls from Srixon are very good quality, and extremely affordable. As a new golfer, you are likely going to lose quite a few balls each round. It may make more sense for you to find a “very good” ball that responds well off the driver and is good around the green, but is affordable enough to buy multiple dozens at a time.

If a budget ball is your goal, the Srixon Soft Feel Golf Balls are the ones for you.

The Srixon Soft feel golf balls are just that, soft around the green. They are made for golfers with a slower swing speed such as new golfers, ladies and seniors, and are really great golf balls for the price.

These balls are not going to have the same type of spin and softness as the ProV’s, but they are going to cost you less than half the price. For a new golfer, that seems to make more sense as you are starting out.

Callaway Golf Supersoft Golf Balls

We really like Callaway supersoft golf balls for a number of reasons. Callaway promotes an ultra low compression core which will get the ball flying faster and will increase distance.

The ball does feel softer to the touch compared to many of the others we tested, but is very long and straight which is ideal for beginner golfers.

The Callaway Supersoft is one of five balls in this category from Callaway, and is considered to be a distance golf ball with the softest feel, best forgiveness, straightest ball flight, and comes in color options of Matte, Pink, Multi color and Yellow.

The reason we like the Callaway Supersoft as a great golf ball for beginners is the price. Depending on when you buy these balls, they are half of the price of the high end Callaway and Titleist pro v1 versus pro v1x.

As a new golfer, you are going to lose some balls here and there. You won’t have to worry about the high price tag when losing a golf ball, and you are going to get tremendous feel, distance, and feel with these golf balls.

Although we chose the TaylorMade Burner as the best golf ball for beginners, you could easily buy a few dozen of these golf balls and fall in love with them. They truly are a great value for the price.

Pinnacle Rush Soft Golf Balls

It seems that the ball we find most often in the bushes, in the trees, or in the water is a Pinnacle. Maybe it is because of the low price point and new golfers choose Pinnacles most often. If you decide to play this brand, then the Pinnacle Rush Soft Golf Balls are a good choice.

What we liked most of all is that these golf balls come in packs of 15, so you already picked up an extra three golf balls compared to every other brand. While most of the golf balls we reviewed were made for distance, the Pinnacle soft golf balls are more about feel.

Pinnancle boasts a proprietary high-energy golf ball with a very low compression core or center, which creates a very soft feel and decreases spin which adds distance off of every club in your golf bag.

We have heard over the years that Pinnacle golf balls are manufactured by Acushnet, which is the same company that manufactures Titleist golf balls. While we cannot say with conviction that this is correct, we do like the flight, distance, feel and low price tag on these golf balls for beginners by Pinnacle.

There are a few things you need to take into account when purchasing golf balls. As a beginner, you want to avoid balls that have extra spin. When a player hits the Driver, the more spin on the ball to the right or to the left is going to cause a big slice or hook, which keeps you out of the fairway.

When choosing a great golf ball for a beginner golfer, we want less spin to keep you in play more often.

Soft or hard? What type of golf balls should you play ?

When you begin playing golf, you want the ball to fly as far as possible, so your next shot is closer to the green. A harder golf ball with a surlyn cover is going to carry farther, and often times these golf balls are considered distance balls.

If your goal is longer shots, you want a surlyn cover ball.

If you want more spin, and your goal is to have the ball land on the green and “check”, or maybe you want to try and spin the ball backwards once it lands on the green, then you would want to look for balls that have more spin, and have a polyurethane cover.

I would advise that if you are new to the game, don’t worry about spin nearly as much as hitting the ball straighter. You will have the rest of your life to practice your “two hop and stop” pitch shot.
