Playing a 4 to 5 hour round is typical on the golf course, but if the temperature drops drastically, that round seems to last forever. Cold golfers are usually some unhappy golfers.
To fix this problem, you need a Golf cart heater that can easily be transported to the golf course, fits great in your golf cart, is stable and secure, and most importantly, keeps the interior of the cart warm.
We love playing golf, but we don’t love being cold on the golf course, so we reviewed the top 8 Golf cart heaters on the market to make your decision easy. Just because the temperature drops doesn’t mean we can’t play the game we love. We just need to make a few adjustments.
Best golf cart heaters
Mr. Heater F242010 MH4GC Golf Cart Heater
Best Overall – Top Choice
The Mr. Heater brand is the most well known brand when it comes to golf cart heaters, and the Mr. Heater F242010 is the #1 Seller on Amazon for good reason. This unit is simply the best of the best, hands down.
Before we start talking about great features, it is important to know this is the Only Certified Outdoor Golf cart heater which means it comes with a safety switch for automatic shut off if the unit is tipped over. The 4242010 also has an oxygen depletion sensor for safety so that if the oxygen safety level gets dangerously low in your cart, it will shut off.
The Mr. Heater F252010 Golf Cart Heater will last about 5 and a half hours, so this unit will last your entire round. (Unless you are playing in a charity scramble).
The unit has 4,000 BTU’s which means the heat output will be more than enough to keep the golfer warm inside the cart. The BTU’s determine the size of the area you are trying to heat.
The heater with wind resistance screen is a nice feature so the heating element remains on during your round. There is nothing worse than trying to restart this portable cart heater after every shot.
The push button ignition is easy to use so you don’t have to worry about trying to ignite it with matches or a lighter. If you smoke cigars on the golf course, think about how hard it is to get them lit during windy conditions.
The large radiant heating surface provides enough heat output with heat settings high enough to make sure you are warm all day long. You simply need to attach the one pound propane tank which is not included, and screw it into the bottom of the portable heater.
The safety features, ignition button, tip over switch, and shut off valve along with the wind resistant protective screen, are the reason we like this our favorite when reviewing all of the Best Golf Cart Heaters.

3G Universal Golf Cart Heater 12v Electric
Most Fuel Efficient Golf Cart Heater

The universal golf cart heater by 3G is rather compact. It’s 12 inches long, 8 inches wide, and only 6 inches high. When it comes to current consumption, this electric golf cart heater needs 25A, and when it comes to power consumption, it needs 300W. Voltage is 12V DC, and it comes with a 12-gauge 14 feet long cable.
I have to admit that this Electric heater seemed promising because it looks and fits nicely into my golf cart. However, when I tested it, it puts out very little to no heat. I tested it during around 30-40 degrees’ weather, and it didn’t even begin to warm up my golf cart. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this product as one we would choose as one of our top rated golf cart heaters.
Pros:
- 12 inches wide, 8 inches long and 6 inches high golf cart heater
- 25 A current consumption, and 300W power consumption
- 12V DC voltage
- A rather compact design
- Suitable for enclosed golf cart spaces
Cons:
- Mid-average price point
- Doesn’t heat well

Why make the investment in a golf cart heater?
Golf cart heaters are small in size which makes them easy to install and, in the case of propane heaters, easy to carry around. They also come with many safety features to make sure that you can stay warm and not worry about anything catching fire in your Golf cart.
When you are equipped for colder temperatures, you get to play the game you love more times throughout the year. If you live on the East Coast and are able to sneak in a few rounds in January and February, you will likely be a little more tolerable to your family and friends.
Making the right choice
There are two types of golf cart heaters: electric and propane. To figure out which one works best for you, consider these factors:
- What’s the price?
- How much does it cost to use?
- How easy is it to install?
- Is it compatible with your golf cart?
Propane heaters tend to be very light, which means that transporting them is not an issue. Since propane heaters don’t need to be permanently installed into your vehicle, you can take them anywhere.
Now, if you have an enclosed golf cart, you don’t need to worry about the dangers of propane fuel on bumpy cart paths.
Electric heaters, on the other hand, are more cost-efficient in the long term. Electrical heaters connect directly to your golf cart’s battery and don’t require constant “refueling. Also, if you’re dealing with weather that simply can’t make up its mind, electric heaters have adaptable temperature controls.
This drawback has a solution, though. Simply make sure that your heater comes with an automatic shut-down function, and you’ll have safe heat during any cold conditions.
Safety first!
Golf cart heaters, as convenient as they are, pose specific safety hazards. When considering which heater to buy, you need to compare safety features and see which ones fit you and your vehicle. Here are some safety features to look out for:
- Hooks: If you don’t have a cup holder or cup holder adapter to store your heater in, then a hook is a good alternative. It’s also helpful if you prefer your golf heater to be higher than your dashboard.
- Automatic Shut-Off Function: For propane heaters, if the unit falls over, then this function will immediately cut the fuel supply. For electric heaters, this will come in handy if your heater is draining your golf cart’s battery too much.
- Anti-Bump: This is more for propane heaters that are not fully integrated into the vehicle. If you’re driving over uneven or bumpy terrain, then you can avoid any accidents with your heater falling over.
- Low-oxygen detector: If the level of oxygen in the area drops too low, then this feature will cut off the fuel supply. If the space inside your golf cart is enclosed, this feature helps avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.
- Wind resistance: several heaters will shut down from high winds. This is a safety feature preventing the golf cart heater from blowing heat directly on flammable parts of the golf cart.
- Cup Holder Adapters: This feature allows you to manipulate the heater hands-free. It keeps your heater upright and in place. Point it in the desired direction and go about your game.
- Pressure Regulator: Having this safety feature helps to control the pressure in the heater if you are playing in altitude.
We hope you enjoyed this information and were able to purchase a great golf cart heater for the colder months. Don’t worry, it won’t impact your Golf bag cooler, your favorite drink, or your Bushnell Wingman View Gps Speaker. These heaters are warm, but not that warm.
