What is Topgolf?

Topgolf is a driving range combined with a full-service restaurant with a bar that serves many of your classic American food. The driving range is three stories tall, and you can rent a bay on an hourly basis. Every bay has a waitstaff and a personal driving range tee.

This attraction is similar to a bowling alley where you take turns golf. Every game allows six players to play at once. Topgolf tends to attract people of all skill levels since knowing how to play golf is not required. It differs from a regular golfing range because they essentially gamified the process.

Players can score points by hitting their golf balls at giant dartboard targets that are on the field. Just like a dartboard, the closer you can get your ball to the bullseye or center, the more points you can earn. Also, the further you can hit the ball, the more points you’ll score.

In addition to playing the game, they also offer other games and televisions to enjoy yourself. The food menu consists of sliders, sandwiches, and heavy appetizers.

The drinks menu has many types of traditional and specialty non-alcoholic and Alcoholic beverages including beer, wine, seltzers, along with harder spirits such as Bourbon, Vodka, Whiskeys like Jack Daniels vs Jim Beam, and others.

How Much Does Topgolf Cost?

There’s a price variance based on the floor, day of the week, and time of day. These costs are based on the Las Vegas location, the most popular Topgolf destination in the United States.

Floor Day of the Week 9 am to Noon 12pm to 5pm 5pm to Closing (12am or 1am)
1st and 2nd Floor Monday thru Thursday $30 $45 $60
1st and 2nd Floor Friday and Saturday $45 $60 $75
1st and 2nd Floor Sunday $45 $60 $60
3rd Floor Monday thru Thursday $45 $60 $75
3rd Floor Friday and Saturday $60 $75 $90
3rd Floor Sunday $60 $75 $75

Keep in mind that the Las Vegas location may cost more than the location that you’re located in. You also have to sign up to become a member of Topgolf to play. The cost of membership is $5, and you only have to pay once. Then you’re able to load up your card, your shot information, and any other stats.

One good thing about renting a bay is that they do not charge per person. Each bay allows up to six people meaning you can split the costs among your group. You also don’t have to pay for renting their golf clubs since they provide ones for you to use.

Players can bring their own golf clubs if you choose. However, most people who play at Topgolf are not there to work on their Draw vs fade. Instead, they are looking to have a fun time.

How Does Topgolf Work?

The premise of Topgolf is bringing people together to hit some golf balls, eat delicious food and drink tasty drinks. When you enter Topgolf, you reserve a hitting bay, a pod where you and your group will play. You’ll be receiving golf clubs of different sizes for your group.

Your group will put information into the computer such as your names, how long you will play and what type of game you choose. From there, a server will come by to take your orders for food and drinks!

Once it’s your turn to hit, you’ll walk up to the driving range area and touch your ball to the sensor. Then a ball will roll out, where you can place it on the tee. Aim and hit the golf ball as hard as you can to score as many points as you can. The player with the most points, wins.

What Skills Are Needed?

Although having existing golf skills is helpful in Topgolf, it’s not necessary. Many people who come to Topgolf have no golfing skills whatsoever. They like to indulge in the experience and enjoy a fun activity with their friends. It’s similar to a bowling alley, where it’s not required to be an advanced bowler to play.
